Wow. I don't mean to not blog, honest. I bring a brand new picture as my apology.
I have been so busy with school I keep forgetting I wanted to remember to blog more. 4 classes this summer, all online. Abnormal Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, Child Psychology and Social Problems. Add to that the classes are all the work of a 15 week course crammed into 7 weeks, and I'm busier than usual.
Still happy to work, though - especially since all of my classes are online. That gives me tons more "play time" than I get during a "normal" semester. So yes, I am working, yes I work at night, yes I'll work in the morning, yes I work during the day, yes I can do overnights, and yes I can travel now as I've got a car again! :P
I also get two weeks off between semesters at the end of August, so YAY! for that. *laughs* I have 4 classes this fall, 2 of which are online, so that's going to be a bit different.
The picture was taken July 2, 2010 - so it's current and new and I hope you enjoy. Specials are available to be had for readers of this blog, too - even as sporadic as I update, I appreciate those of you who read it. My overnight special from my last post is still active, just so you know! ;)
And with that, I'm going to go relax and enjoy my Saturday!

Weekend Overnight Rates (12 hours -approximately- it doesn't HAVE to be "overnight", and my weekend is Friday morning through Saturday night as I have class Monday morning LOL) are going to be $900 for everyone who reads this blog, ONLY.
I'm only able to offer services in Grand Rapids, MI - and outcall, only. That whole full time school thing. I'm trying to make up for my limited travel range by offering a good deal, however. ^_^
Alrighty, that was it for the little PSA. Hope everyone is having a fab. New Year!

A question posed by the ever fabulous Beverly Fisher. . .and my attempt at an answer!
Beverly asked in her blog:
“Why is it that people look favorably (in a thousand ways) on history's courtesans and madams, but not their modern counterparts?
Extra 50 points if you can rationally explain the feminist viewpoint in your answer”.
Let me start this off by stating I do NOT consider myself a feminist.
The first reason I believe people look "favorably" on history's courtesans and the like are because they are able to romanticize things when they are "lost" in the past, as it were. The courtesans and madams of days of old are remembered as string women, fighting against the oppression of the upper class white men, just as many other minorities were. Women were a minority then, subjugated and treated as property (at best) and usually having less rights than an animal would have. Women who were able to break out of this mold and use their fairer sex (and sex period) to break free of the mold that society pressed them into are looked upon as rebels and regarded for their "hutzpah and moxy". It's easy to forget that they sold sex just as their modern counterparts do, they just sold it for "different reasons". At least that's part of the rational we, as a whole, use to romanticize their path in life.
What we forget to remember is that most women of old that lived this type of life had someone in the background pulling the strings. We'll call him Ye Ol'Pimp. And when Ye Ol'Pimp was in charge, the ladies might have had some semblance of power, but the truth is most "ladies of the night" were still in as much, if not more, servitude than their female counterparts that were -not- prositutes. Whether that Ye Ol'Pimp was a wizened old lady or a man, it still remains that someone else got part of the money that was paid to the prostitute/courtesan.
Madams and the like had just as hard a row to "ho" as modern street prostitutes do. They were mistreated, robbed, beaten and sometimes killed. But they still managed to get girls to work for them. Brothel owners and the girls who worked for them still thought less of the dance hall and saloon girls who rented out the rooms above those establishments to work in, giving a cut to Ye Ol' Pimp - probably the man who ran/owned the saloon or dance hall. And they all looked down at the women who had to walk the streets. Sound familiar?
No matter what "station" they held, the life they held was a hard one, and many died before they reached the age of 30. Some of them managed to move on to other careers or find themselves a husband, which enabled them to be able to live that hard and dangerous life behind. A Japanese courtesans main goal was to find a benefactor who would keep them in their old age. and that's the rub of it. The whole end goal of most ladies was to find a man to help take care of them.
Those facts ruin the romantic notions we hold of these women. People as a whole, instead, hold tight to the woman fighting for her own rights and freedoms, and how brave she was. We don't need to do that anymore, so why subject ourselves to this lifestyle? We are equal (mostly) with men, so why do some of us -still- remain in this profession, and why do we fight so hard against all the negative things people expouse about escorts? Because we aren't equal to men completely, and this profession above all others means we can completely take care of ourselves with no help from anyone, let alone a "man". I know most escorts do not hold the end goal of finding a man to take care of them in their old age, though being taken care of "right now" isn't so bad, right? *laughs*
Now, women that escort (or prostitute) are looked on as women who have no regards to their body and no respect for themselves. I find quite the opposite to be true, but it's easy to forget that women in the past did the same thing we are doing, for much the same reasons. The rosy glasses of history make it easier to view those women in a different light; to make what they do different that what -we- do. And it's not different. Well, maybe we do it better, and perhaps most of it do it a bit safer, but in it's essence, it's the same thing.
I, for one, and glad I can look back in history and see not only the strides these women made (for despite everything, they did manage to make strides) but their faults as well. They were not the fabled women that we have made them into, but women with faults and problems, just as we are. I think to know truly who they were, people need to realize that the escorts of today are modern counterparts of the women they romanticize and regard as something other than they were. Only then will people truly be able to understand just how right and upstanding most of the women in this profession actually are.
Damn. That was a wordy answer. Hopefully despite how tired I am, it made some sense of coherent sense.

Almost another year...
Well it's almost 2010, and I hope that everyone's new year is filled with wonder, surprise, and great things.
I'm not doing much of anything for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day - just watching the ball drop and then heading off to bed. Exciting, huh? *laughs* I might work if anyone expresses a need, but I'm not sure if that'll happen. At least the option is open.
Nothing else to say this blog entry - I'm tired right now (up FAR too late last night), and just trying to get ready for when school starts on the 11th. That includes trying to get my sleep patterns back to my school schedule. That'll wait until the 1st, though! *giggles*
