Could the video vigilante have a point?
He ponders in an article on his website,
“I've always had a hard time understanding how, as a society, we've gone from diaries under lock and key to the Internet version of a diary that we gladly welcome the world to intrude upon. Let alone why an individual involved in criminal activity would publish what could eventually be evidence used against them in a court of law”.
I’d say he might have a point, something I perhaps didn’t elaborate clearly in my blog entry “This blogging phenomenon” which was met with some scorn…at least according to the comments. Private emails between y’all are another thing, lol. As a teenager I tried on and off to keep a journal, but was more worried about someone coming across it…even then I valued my privacy the way I still do today which is why I am not a fan of most of gutter TV where people bare their souls and wash dirty laundry. Years later I entered this business and as most of you know, if there is any time to keep a journal it is while doing this. From the different emotions we experience to every day happenings within the context of the business and civilian life…there’s nothing else like it…it seemed like a good idea until I learned that I could be arrested at any time and the thought of a group of piggy vice officers sniggering at my entries was something I didn’t relish.
Escort blog is a great concept (I wish I’d thought of it haa haa) it’s proving to be one helluva popular site and I think a great medium for escorts to get together but I see it more as an online community/message board minus all the testosterone, which is much welcomed, but other than blatant advertising - I’m guilty to a certain degree, It's just another hang message board minus the testosterone, but with a helluva lot of estrogen. I like to think of myself as tolerant, but some of the entries I find deplorable (blatant ads) and degrading which is quite ironic when you think this is supposed to be a showcase of sex-workers as not being the stereo typical image of what ignorant idiots like the video vigilante would like others to think. May be I should just losen up and realise not all sex work is “nice and neat”…a client takes you to dinner, you have lovely conversation, you come back to his hotel and then shag…maybe I should be more tolerant of those who make a living off gang bangs – which to me is the ultimate in degradation for a woman.
So do we give others (law enforcements to name a few) more ammunition to use against us?, by what we write, do we trade our privacy? After all much of what I see blogged here, is the stuff other ladies and I talk about in emails, IM, phone and in person.
I’ve said this before, but the Internet has totally destroyed the mystique of being a “lady of pleasure.”
